Where
and How to Obtain Marriage Records
There are a variety of ways to obtain marriage
records, which are open to the public at all times. Some ways require
a little work, while other require nothing more than logging on
to the Internet.
In the past, the only way to access marriage records was to visit
the county in the state where the marriage was performed and get
the records from that county’s office. This was not very convenient
for those who needed marriage records and didn’t live near
the county office and was often done by lawyers or investigators.
Today, everything is done online and there are many different companies
that offer the service of obtaining marriage records. Some of these
services are free, but are not recommended as they do not provide
the full service or do as good of a job as a fee-based website will.
Though the free websites do provide basic information, the marriage
records obtained through a fee-based site are more detailed and
can be accessed instantly.
When it comes to getting a copy of marriage records, there are two
ways to have it delivered. One is through the mail, which is a bit
old cases but can be beneficial if you want a hard copy in your
hands. The other way is through the Internet and is faster and convenient
for those who use computers a lot. However, it’s better to
get a copy through the mail if you’re using the marriage records
to prove something to the state or need to provide someone with
a hard copy. |
